Ami Magunia is Senior Director for the Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship.

The Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship accelerates the most promising diverse talent into instructionally-focused senior school systems roles, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to work with their communities and enact transformational change.

As Senior Director, Ami serves as the architect of the learning design and curriculum that Cambiar Catalyst provides to school systems leaders through its flagship national fellowship, as well as our regional fellowships. She also develops and leads partnerships with school districts, state education agencies, charter networks, and education non profit organizations to advance their strategic direction and increase their impact. Ami coaches superintendents and CEOs and facilitates customized learning experiences for cabinets and senior central office teams. She is a senior member of the Catalyst team and contributes significantly to its strategic direction. 

Prior to this role, she worked as a senior consulting partner leading strategic planning, district and school level turnaround as part of Mass Insight Education.

She began her career in education as a Teach for America Corps member in Baltimore. After teaching elementary students for four years, Ami then worked for The New Teacher Project to manage the district’s alternative teaching program. She later joined the Baltimore City Public Schools leadership team serving as both the Special Assistant to the Chief Human Capital Officer and Manager of School-Based Recruitment and Staffing.

Ami received a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in Business Administration and later received a M.A.T. from Johns Hopkins University. She lives in New Orleans.
