Ownership is the Future

Nicole Campbell is founder of Ownership is the Future (“Ownership”), a nonprofit focused on providing a pathway for Black students to become owners as they transition to post-secondary education and careers, simultaneously.

Previously, Nicole was Managing Director of XQ, Vice President for the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, a strategy consultant to nonprofit CEOs, national philanthropic and nonprofit organizations including the Kellogg Foundation, Carnegie Corporation, Classroom Inc., and charter management organizations. During her time with XQ, Nicole led the growth of the organization's high school transformation work with Rhode Island and New York City. As former Vice President for Deutsche Bank, Nicole led the development and implementation of the Bank's investment strategy for underserved students in New York City public schools. She increased Deutsche Bank's philanthropic investment in education by 216% and created public/private partnerships to leverage the Bank's investments. She created two distinct initiatives: “Teachers as Leaders”, a partnership with CUNY and the Schott Foundation to increase the number of Black male teachers in New York City classrooms and “College Ready Communities”, a partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to invest in Black and Latino communities to improve neighborhood schools.

Nicole served as a White House Fellow 2009-2010 where she created Summer of Innovation, NASA’s signature commitment to the President’s “Educate to Innovate” initiative. She is also a founding board member of Achievement First Brownsville, board member of Classroom, Inc., and founder of Cepi Style.

Nicole earned her B.A. in Political Science from Amherst College in 2000, and her MPP in Political and Economic Development from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government in 2005.
